Putney Mother inspired to run marathon to raise money which took her sister's life.

Local Publican of the Bricklayers arms, Becky Newman, is one of ten of the British runners competing in the North Pole on April 5th.  The race is run on ice floes floating on the Arctic ocean in temperatures of around -30 degrees.  She hopes to raise £10,000 for Headway, a local charity that helps victims of brain injury.  As many Putney locals know, the Bricklayer Arms pub re-opened back in 2005 as a direct result of Becky's sister's sudden death from a brain haemorrhage.  Becky discovered recently that Headway does the most wonderful work with victims of stroke, and in particular with children who have lost one or both parents to brain injury related deaths.  If you would like to help Becky, please go to Charity Giving and type in Becky Newman.  All donations go direct to Headway.  Becky has funded her entire trip and specialist clothes for the event personally.
