Inspirational quote about living life

If I Had My Life To Live Over

by Erma Bombeck

The following was written by the late Erma Bombeck
after she found out she had a fatal disease.

If I had my life to live over, I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more while watching life.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner."

There would have been more "I love you's".. More "I'm sorrys" ...

But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute... look at it and really see it ... live it...and never give it back.

Olympic torch in Putney

I got to see it again today.  I was coming back to Putney from Chiswick.  I was told the Barnes foot bridge was closed so I had to cycle to Wandsworth Bridge and cross there.  It was a nice slow cycle ride as everyone was out waiting for the torch to come through.  It was just as inspirational as last time. You can see it smack dab in the middle.  Having both American and British citizenship, I have to say, GO TEAM GB AND USA!

How we treat enuresis for children with hypnotherapy

Urology week is 17-21 September but I was asked to write about it for Families SW magazine so thought I'd post it as well.

To start, it is imperative to build a sensitive and positive rapport with the child.  After a detailed medical background, we then use a variety of tools to help your child find the right solution for them.  Kids often can fix their own “problems” using their brilliant imaginations.  We use techniques like pretending, relaxation and imagery, metaphors, time distortion, and always confidence boosting to help them over come bed-wetting.

The keys factors in helping your child is for the parents to be relaxed about it, and continue to encourage your child (even when it feels frustrating).  This is common and keeping it in perspective helps.  It is a phase and helping your child to overcome it quickly, confidently and calmly is the key.  Call to discuss your personal situation.

Olympic torch

I saw the Olympic torch yesterday just outside Southfields station.  It was really a great moment having everyone cheering on the torch.  Unfortunately I don't know who the torch carrier is but I am sure she has a great story like all of them.  Well done.  It truly does inspire.

Naala the cat prefers fresh water

Our cat has taken to a new routine.  Every morning when I head to the shower, she is there in the bathroom to get her drink and wash behind her ears.  It was cute the first time, but now her beauty routine is taking longer than I do to get ready in the morning.

She has also taken to killing birds.  She claimed her second yesterday.  I know it's her nature, but to come home to feathers everywhere is not a pretty site.  I think I'm going to have to get a bell but her neck is so small, I don't know if they make them for Devon Rex's?!  Anyone?

Enjoy your day.
