Confidence boosting is something we all need at some point. Today it will come from both you and I. We will focus on reminiscing on your past successes that you now might take for granted, and reminding you of your best skills and assets. I’ll help you to see it more clearly once again and give you some more boosting.
As always, it is a reminder that you ARE amazing and need to take care of yourself.

Happiness – WOW – seems strange to have to work at finding something that should come so naturally. However, sometimes it feels like it is just becoming harder to figure out what makes us happy. This video contains a few ideas to help you find it again and keep it, and I also give other suggestions at the end.
Like the comedian Maranda Hart advises, “I tried to be grown up but I have no interest in abiding by the adult rulebook. I want to do fun things that make me happy [...] You might call me a child. Good. For if adults had even the slightest in-the-moment joy of a child then frankly the world would be a better place.”
And this one
“Look in the mirror and say, 'There is none other like you and for that reason alone you are beautiful.”
2021 - HAVE SOME FUN!!! Really, we need more fun this year!
Reinvent yourself. Try a new hairstyle or colour. Update your wardrobe with something new and bright and fun!
Learn a new skill or develop a hobby.
Join a new group - I recommend #InterNations. Join or start a book club or games club, or walking group (spend time organising it for when you can meet face-to-face).
I'm creating a bucket list of things to do this year and projects of things I want to accomplish. YES - todo lists are fun for some people - like myself. SEEeee...I even have my colourful calendar, marker pens, quotes started, and saving money pouch to spend on my rewards, all set to go.
A change is like a breath of fresh air - makes you feel good. Have some fun in 21!
The second big event was a kitchen extension, which I have wanted to do for the last 10 years.I was always frightened by the cost and disruption.Part of it was practical, and part was my own fearful imagination about, “how am I going to cope with no kitchen, the expense, and all the chaos?!”.
One of my mentors for hypnotherapy asked me, “How did you manage to get through other difficult times in your life?”. The answer is simple, and applies to all of us, “I just found a way and did it”. You will always find a way and sometimes it is our own determination, and other times, it is with the help of others. Anyway, I did manage it and I had lots of supporters.
My builder was excellent. Not only in his work, but payment schedule. Barclay’s “lost” a transfer of money from my US account to help pay for it, and even though I had savings to draw on, the money was missing for 6 weeks! I kept my builder informed, and he really wasn’t bothered as he could see that I was doing everything possible to get Barclays to find my missing money (which is now with the Financial Ombudsman, and it finally arrived in the final week of the works finishing.
My neighbours helped us out with using their washing machines (can you imagine to have the privilege to live on a street where I was able to take my laundry to 7 different houses in rotation – plus one neighbour went on holiday for a week and gave me the keys to their house. AND the other nice thing is I had offers from another 5 neighbours!). They didn’t just let me use their machines – they folded the laundry when it was finished.
Besides doing laundry, we were offered meals. We had several Sunday lunches at friends and neighbours houses. We are truly blessed.
So, don’t be afraid of the challenge. You will always find a way. I promise.
Sorry for my lack of personal posts. I have had a lot going on - 3 big events. Listing one post a day so it’s not a huge long post, and each has a lesson.
NUMBER 1. About 6 months ago I fractured my foot by a freak trip up a curb. To someone who walked 15-20,000 steps a day, it was a big deal. I had 2 weeks pretty much in bed, and was just about able to walk in a support boot and crutches, but no more then 4 blocks at a time.
I had several NHS appointments to see how badly I had fractured the tendon and the nerve. It was an experience to actually get to hear my nerve grow!! They put an acupuncture needle in your leg, and you can actually hear the nerve grow (silence means it is a normal nerve). So apparently it will take another month for the nerve to head down my leg to my big toe. At least I am now on the mend and am so thankful to Bhavini and Aiden, from Bodies Under Construction, for their amazing physio skills to helping me with rehab. I am now almost back to 100% and for the first time today – I managed to run for 6 minutes! YEAH!!
However, the hardest part of the fracture was not the physical pain, it was the mental depression. Not being able to get outside for exercise, do my normal routine, and see clients really took a toll on my mental wellbeing. I felt so down, and even though I could do work over Skype and some social media, not getting out and being able to exercise began to make me feel lonely and depressed. I knew I had to take action mentally to get me into a better state.
I began to break down the day into activities such as 30 minutes just doing gentle stretching, 30 minutes bath (including massaging my foot), 30 minutes reading positive books (like Laws of Attraction), a few hours work, 1 hour watching feel good YouTube clips about “spending it forward” and “acts of kindness”, 45 minutes eating a healthy lunch slowly and watching the news, watching a funny or classic movie, and ending the day again with gentle stretching with a scented candle - of course. It started to help vs. being frustrated and depressed. Once I had a plan, I started to feel better.
I read the book Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. It was ironic as the book is about a lonely woman. The author, Gail Honeyman, wrote the book after reading a newspaper story about a woman in her 30’s that never saw people from the time she left work on Friday night until Monday morning. We only think of the elderly as suffering from isolation and loneliness. You need to make a plan if you are living with depression, fear, loneliness, anxiety, etc. Little steps will lead to bigger ones and slowly feeling better and better and better.
The other lovely lesson I learnt was to try the “acts of kindness” for myself to others. I went to Sainsbury’s, bought a dozen yellow roses, and passed them out on my way home. Every one of the 12 people I gave a rose to brightened their day and mine! One man even said, “I feel like I have just been knighted”. Also one woman I gave a rose to was so thankful and happy that the women at the table next to her clapped, so I gave one to her too, and those 2 women I am sure were still talking to each other long after I left.
I read The Science of Laughter from Time Magazine’s September issue. It was really interesting to learn that the main reason we laugh is social communication.
It is also an unconscious behavior (not under our control at all), which is why we have all had “inappropriate” times of cracking up. Mine usually happens in church.
The really amazing thing about laughing is that it is, like drinking water, good for us. Not only mentally making us feel good, but also physically we benefit. That is why there are more and more studies being done in universities and hospitals about using laughter for better health. It helps in boosting our immune function, pain tolerance, cardiovascular health and memory. We know it reduces stress and help with depression.
So I suggest you spend 1-2 hours over the weekend to watch your favorite comedy! Happy Friday!
Sometimes we feel sad and don't know how to getting that happy feeling again, particularly in winter (and around the holiday's it can feel worse). This exercise gets you thinking happy and locking it in for use throughout the day. Don't worry - be happy : ).
More tips to keep you motivated to exercise and just to get started on
days you don't feel like it.These
are fun, mind games - to keep you going when its time to "get out
there" but you would rather stay in bed.
Don't forget that exercise gives you energy and lifts your spirits - so
just start for 5 mins - and momentum will take over.I hope you enjoy them. Please let me know if you want more ideas or share your own.
5 great tips to keep you motivated during exercise.
THINK! Think about
what would motivate you to keep going vs. letting your "chatterbox of
doubt" make you give up or fail. If you just use a little
creativity, you will find hundreds of ways to keep going. These are my
top 5 when I am out for a run.
1. Pretend you are leading a class of new
runners. In your head, imagine what you would be telling them about
proper running style. What foods to eat, how to prepare with good clothes
and shoes (what do you personally like to recommend). Is there something,
like tension socks or runners gadgets you think are worthwhile to invest in?
Then tell them about breathing, stride, pacing, interval training, best
posture, the importance of warming up and cooling down, stretching.
By the time you have finished telling "your class" about the
joys of running, you will be done with your own run.
2. Imagine you are on a TV program.
Similar to above, but when I do this, I imagine I am in the middle of
some endurance test (even if it is 5K) and explaining why I run and a little of
my history and when I started running. I "talk" about all the
benefits I get from running and exercise in my life and about other exercise I
do to keep my body in shape. Again, by giving this your full focus, you
will not consider stopping for a moment - how would that look on national
television?
3. Pray. It does not have to be 12
Our Fathers and Hail Mary's, (however I did do this once during a 10K race
through London - partly because I didn't really have time to train for the 10K
and had been only doing 5K's, and it was my first 10K). But you can also
use the time to be thankful for everything you have in your life and break it
down. I think of people, starting with family, then friends, then
neighbours, and other people I regularly see, but not socially.
Then I think of health,
and break down my whole body into sections. I thank my body areas one by
one for the work they do to help me run. Starting with the toes for the
balance they give my body, and work my way up...ball and heal of
feet/knees/thighs/legs for the power they bring to the run etc. Then
heart, blood cells, muscles, stomach (nutrition), even sweat to keep you cool
etc..., if you break your body up into the fine detail, you can spend 30
minutes or more preoccupying your mind.
4. Break up your even into smaller chunks.
Like I tell my marathon runners, "It is simply 4 x 10Ks with a
little extra on the end. In any race, the last 1k is mainly for you to
savour the cheers from your fans when you finish your marathon. Even if
it is a smaller run or walk, break up each 1K into a project. Sing a song
on the first one, think of your favourite holiday and relive it on the second
1K, etc...
5. Rewards. As my partner would
advise, have an ice cold beer waiting for you when you return. I would
suggest a healthier reward but no matter what it is, at least you will have
deserved it.
Enjoy your exercise but
more importantly, enjoy using the creativity of your brilliant mind.
THIS SHOULDN’T BE
HARD, BUT YET, IT SEEMS SOME PEOPLE STRUGGLE WITH BEING POSITIVE.
SO TRY THESE 5

One thing that is really amazing about the internet is "like minded people" who want to share their knowledge about subjects you write about.
I am not the expert in this field for people who suffer from psoriasis but I do work with a lot of of people who do - so I therefore pass on what I learn.
This link is for a Probiotic-supplement that is very effective for helping individuals who suffer from psoriasis. So I therefore pass it on.
I hope it helps make you feel better and puts a 😀 on your face.
You must watch this film if you ever dared to follow through with your dream. This man, whom I am honoured to also call my friend and neighbour, started Streetwise Opera after over coming his own fears and followed his instinct to make this happen. Really inspiring and moving. Please watch - it is 30 minutes you won't regret. Marygrace

I really like Facebook for being able to pass on inspirational messages. I know a lot of people read and "like" the ones I pass on, but I encourage everyone to do the same.
If something you read moves you, inspires you, or makes you think, it is worth sharing with others. The internet and fake news is so wide spread, so its nice to be able to share something that is nothing but pure joy or fills you with passion.
I also like to share my top tips on stress management, sleeping. weight loss, etc... I used to think no one was reading my page or my blog, but as it turns out, they are and I am now starting to get requests for specific things. It (YOU) inspired me to make some videos to share and work towards doing 2 more recordings... so be on the look out soon for my videos. I will post them here as well.
Normally I advise my clients to choose 4
areas of their life that they want to focus on for the next 4 – 6 months. Then they need to write down the goals
and the steps they need to take to achieve them.
So last time I did my life wheel (back in
April) – I so badly wanted to get back in shape and take care of my health that
I made that my sole goal.So my
steps were a whole body life wheel focus for the next 4 months. My steps were:
-Exercise daily – yoga or walking
(looking into other possible classes)
-Start running again – devise a
plan to build back up distance
-Floss my teeth daily (had just
lost a filling prior to setting goals)
-No alcohol until I reached my
ideal weight.
-Back to portion control and
eating health meals (no takeaways, ready meals, etc).I made my meals separately if family members wanted
something else but tried to work some of their meals into mine. They started to put more of my salads
into their meals as well – Bonus!
-Cut out (down) sugar (really
hard as it is in everything) – this was actually motivated by reading someone else’s
blog about the affects it had on his health.
-Drink herbal teas (no coffee –
as prone to wanting sugar or Starbucks).
I loved my plan and I have enjoyed making
it happen (see prior weekly detox blogs/FB entry for more details) .So, now onto the next challenge.
As I started with a total focus on health
for the last life wheel goal, this time I am going the extreme with setting 6 –
yes 6 areas I want to work on but 2 are very short term achievable.Four areas will take 4 – 6 months to
complete and 2 just need a power hour to get in place, but they are still
important to me to get done.
I will first list my goals and over the
next few days break them down into steps.
1.Kitchen Extension
2.Career challenges
3.Personal Development (Piano I
think)
4.Weekend family activity
(exercise or language – still thinking)
5.Relationship with partner – plan
longer term life goals together.
6.Spiritual space – more clutter
clear out.
Look forward to sharing more with you.If
you want to do a life wheel message me or add to a comment to FB and I will
email it over to you.
Please can I encourage all students and parents not to get caught up in the stress of taking the GCSEs or any big exams. At the end of the day, our world is changing. The way companies hire is changing. One day, it truly won't be a grade that gets you hired (it is already happening), but the type of individual you become.
I personally have been a C/D student and a straight A student. No matter what grade I got, it had nothing to do with my achievements in life. I would rather have a happy, confident, outgoing and loving child than a unhappy, hating school and stressed out A student.
What truly matters in life isn't a grade. It is the person you become. Which reminds me to post my favourite quote by Marianne Williamson
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
It is hard enough being a child and having to learn all of
life’s lessons, but if you have a learning difficulty, or disability, or you do
not feel your true self, it is 100% worse.
There has been a lot of attention in the media for
transgender children.They
say the calls to charity counselling lines have tripled in the last 3 years
(Daily Mail 13th December). It appears that the more support being shown to these children, it is
giving other children the confidence to call in for help and support.
Can you even imagine the pressure of school, activities,
puberty, “fitting in” and on top of that “feeling different” about your own
sex” and “trapped in the wrong body”?Then on top of that you feel you can’t talk to anybody about it.
I always focus on keeping myself up to date on children’s
issues, as I would hate not to be prepared on how to help them should a child
confide in meas a counselor or
hypnotherapist.One woman who
started a site for her transgender son, said a very profound statement. She wrote, “I would rather have a
transgender daughter than a dead son”.Wow – powerful.
So my advice to you is listen to them, take it seriously,
ask them what you can do to support them and act on it.There are great support lines for them
to talk to counselors as well as getting a referral on the NHS.They have a specialist team to help
transgender children.They
need to hear they are still loved for who they are, not their sex
orientation.Feel free to call me
if you would like more information.
I read an interesting article in the Daily Mail (13th
December) in the life section.
It was about the 10-year anniversary of the release of The
Secret.If you missed it, this
book promotes the power of positive thinking.I totally believe in it and now they have brought out a
second book sharing the stories of people who have put The Secret into practice
in their lives.
However, it is not just a matter of positive thinking. It is about the way you ask the
universe for what you want.You
can’t just throw it out once and hope for the best. You have to ask in a positive open way (with the right phrasing),
you have to do it regularly, and you must focus on it in a positive healthy
way, i.e. using visualization techniques or vision board.
My belief is what is the harm in giving it a go, but if you
do, don’t do it without actually believing it, as you will just be
disappointed.Start small and
build.
