MG Hypnosis - Finding Inner Strength

Do you believe in a higher spirit?  It doesn’t matter if you don’t, because we all have a source of inner strength.  Sometimes it is challenged when we are under pressure, or if we are physically not well, or when our circumstances change.  Things we can’t control can leave us feeling week.

This short session is designed to help you take a moment and think about what you can control and how to get the feeling of strengths and confidence back.  If not with help from your spiritual side, then from your mental side.

I hope you find your inner strength!  Remember “you’ve got this”.

DO A LIFE WHEEL! See mine below

New LIFE WHEEL Goals for next 4 months

Normally I advise my clients to choose 4 areas of their life that they want to focus on for the next 4 – 6 months.  Then they need to write down the goals and the steps they need to take to achieve them.

So last time I did my life wheel (back in April) – I so badly wanted to get back in shape and take care of my health that I made that my sole goal.  So my steps were a whole body life wheel focus for the next 4 months.   My steps were:
-       Exercise daily – yoga or walking (looking into other possible classes)
-       Start running again – devise a plan to build back up distance
-       Floss my teeth daily (had just lost a filling prior to setting goals)
-       No alcohol until I reached my ideal weight.
-       Back to portion control and eating health meals (no takeaways, ready meals, etc).   I made my meals separately if family members wanted something else but tried to work some of their meals into mine.  They started to put more of my salads into their meals as well – Bonus!
-       Cut out (down) sugar (really hard as it is in everything) – this was actually motivated by reading someone else’s blog about the affects it had on his health.
-       Drink herbal teas (no coffee – as prone to wanting sugar or Starbucks).

I loved my plan and I have enjoyed making it happen (see prior weekly detox blogs/FB entry for more details) .  So, now onto the next challenge.

As I started with a total focus on health for the last life wheel goal, this time I am going the extreme with setting 6 – yes 6 areas I want to work on but 2 are very short term achievable.  Four areas will take 4 – 6 months to complete and 2 just need a power hour to get in place, but they are still important to me to get done.

I will first list my goals and over the next few days break them down into steps.

1.     Kitchen Extension
2.     Career challenges
3.     Personal Development (Piano I think)
4.     Weekend family activity (exercise or language – still thinking)
5.     Relationship with partner – plan longer term life goals together.
6.     Spiritual space – more clutter clear out.

Look forward to sharing more with you.  If you want to do a life wheel message me or add to a comment to FB and I will email it over to you.

The Secret returns

I read an interesting article in the Daily Mail (13th December) in the life section.

It was about the 10-year anniversary of the release of The Secret.  If you missed it, this book promotes the power of positive thinking.  I totally believe in it and now they have brought out a second book sharing the stories of people who have put The Secret into practice in their lives.

However, it is not just a matter of positive thinking.  It is about the way you ask the universe for what you want.  You can’t just throw it out once and hope for the best.  You have to ask in a positive open way (with the right phrasing), you have to do it regularly, and you must focus on it in a positive healthy way, i.e. using visualization techniques or vision board.

My belief is what is the harm in giving it a go, but if you do, don’t do it without actually believing it, as you will just be disappointed.  Start small and build.

Have fun!

How do you get what you want in life

My top suggestions on ways to get motivated – we always need to be reminded.

Ask yourself - What good is not going forward? Then write out a “positive and negatives list”; i.e. I want to get fit for 50 so I need to do the following:

If I don’t move forward, I will continue to gain weight, feel bad about my body image and self imagine. My clothes will be tight and I won’t feel comfortable wearing them. I will have less energy to do things. My health will deteriorate and could add potential health risks to my life, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, etc. I will be a bad role model for my daughter. I will let myself down. I will eat rubbish food and my body deserves better.

Positive Negative
Lose weight All of the above that I don't want!
Feel better
Look better – body firmer
More energy
Longer health
Sleep better
Self pride
Set a good example
Encourage others

How can I do achieve this?

  • Trial – set out daily goals of exercise – try something new or do exercise slightly longer. Write exercise time in my diary!
  • Take action before motivation and motivation will follow
  • Being, Doing, Having will get you there.
  • Clear values run motivation–what is important? My health and well being physically and mentally

How do you get it?

  • Make it a game – get rewards.
  • JFDI (Just F_ _ _ing Do It) Excuse the “F” but in some cases it is necessary.
  • Investigate on what works best
  • Self talk – well done
  • What could you achieve? Set goal.
  • Life time – die in horrible way Diabetes/can’t move
  • Alcohol – 6 month challenge & you will lose a high amount of weight and when you drink your resolve will go down
  • Biggest common fear with change – You are frightened your life is going to be terrible and no more enjoyment and I am taking the fun away. But you know what, my clients all have had the best 6 months of their lives. Feel better, more energy, look better. No one has ever regretted making this change.
  • Unconscious mind will hard on you but it is not impossible and you will feel better
  • Project – what if you had a boss who said you have to lose it – how will you do it?
  • You must agree what you are and are not willing to do.
  • What got you to do stuff before – make lists
  • List rewards – holiday/TV/Walk/Drinks/Clear desk
  • Keep your focus on the “near” future and you will be rewarded daily.

Stick with your goals

It is so tempting to say "I give up" when starting a New Years resolution, and it is usually at week 3 of January that people stop their efforts.

The best thing you can do is get a calendar print out and write how many days you have been successful at it and tell yourself "well done" each time you do it.  You will begin to look forward to writing in the next number and enjoy that feeling of success.

It is also good to tell people what your goals are so you get support in your efforts.  Once you commit it out loud to others it is hard to give up.  Our pride keeps us going forward.

AND as always, write down your goals and the plan of action.  It is easier when we have specific and clear idea on how we will achieve our goals.

Happy New Year!

What is important in your life?

If I ask a client, "What is important to you in your life?", I get automatic answers. Then if you ask again, "What specifically about each answer is so important to you?", then I start to hear what their values and beliefs are. It is like the old joke with Ms. Universe, "I want world peace", but when you get down to it, it is the safety they value for themselves, not world peace.

Writing down what you think is important to you in your life right now and then break it down more with "why".  You will begin to understand more how you are moving your life forward and why.  It is so vital you follow your true goals because you will go farther in with your drive and be happier doing it.

In another 6 months time, do it again.  The list will change as you change and discover your true passions in life.  And we should change as we grow as individuals and our life circumstances grow.

Have fun with learning about your true passions and focus on how to achieve them.  Life is an adventure and we are the explorers.

That's all folks.

My goals for the end of 2013

One of my goals for the end of 2013 is to watch less TV and be active in finishing projects (like the dreaded organisation of my pictures for the last 5 years into photo albums – almost finished). Anyway, I am making progress and getting more things done without feeling like I am not having down time. My projects are all things I want to do and I set time limits so I don’t feel like it is a chore. TV is great for information and to have a break, but the 3 to 4 hours from meal to bed (even in the background is too much).

Other things I am doing with my "power hours" is looking into classes of interest, listening to Italian tapes, giving the dog a final walk (more than just around the block), face-timing friends, updating my daughters monthly journal, cleaning out clutter by area (scary out-of-date medicines in the bathroom cupboard and out-of-date cans of soup "I was going to try"– eek), getting clothes ready for the next day, getting birthday cards/presents ready for the upcoming month. They might sound like small projects or tasks, but the time-saving feel good factor is outstanding. Try it and you will see. I am also learning about juicing – more in the next newsletter about this and how it can help with weight loss and sports enhancement.

What can you achieve by 2014?

Okay, now we are back to some point of normalcy as the kids are back to school and everyone has returned from their holidays and the tubes are packed full again. So, what can you think of to inspire you to finish off this year with achieving something great!? Let's get thinking.

Start a new or change your exercise routine - maybe try a Zumba or kickboxing class to get some of those other muscles moving. Studies have shown that a mixture of exercise is much more effective than just running, biking or swimming. Or sign up for your first race, which is very inspiring!

Take a 30 day challenge - either eat healthier, cut out one item of food you know is really bad for you, have a alcohol free month, drink one less high street coffee and put the money into saving up for a treat, drink more water, bring your lunch to work, try more fruit/veg...

Take a class - learn a language, cooking class, dancing, computers or learn self-hypnosis to help you achieve your goals.

Set a 3 month goal to achieve by New Year! Clear out your clothes, paint a room, organize your files, recycle old books/junk (or sell it on line), research a new career.

It doesn't matter what it is but without goals - you have no where to go and nothing to achieve. Goals help us stay focused and they create action, which in turn causes motivation and momentum. We feel great when we can tick off out accomplishments. It builds our self esteem and makes us set higher goals. You have nothing to loose and so much to gain. Enjoy your success.

Christmas stress and relaxation tips

Christmas does not have to be stressful, shopping does not have to be stressful, being with family and in-laws does not have to be stressful, NO EVENT has to be stressful!  It is the emotion we attach to the event that makes things seem stressful.  Before the event we start thinking about "what ifs" and usually it is about something going wrong.

You may have the person at the party who gets drunk and it is harder to control but you can even do little things to control it.  Make weaker drinks, get low alcohol beers/wine, and have a designated driver arranged to take them home.  Or it could be the difficult relative that always starts arguments.  Keep the conversation on light topics or ones you don't particularly care about, or excuse yourself to use the loo to break the state of aggression building.

TIPS:  Before the event, think about it all going well.  Keep your mood up with Christmas music and naming 10 things you are grateful for about the event before it happens.  Focus on the positive side and remember to breath 6 times deeply to calm you back to a neutral  place.  Remember, thinks seem worse in our minds so ask yourself "is this really that bad" and "what can I do to improve things immediately" and let your creative side go wild.  NO NOT drink excessively or allow yourself to react in negative, self destructive ways like over eating or smoking.  It is not worth it and you are the only one who suffers as a result.

Enjoy the season and relax!
